Over 100 years after the Golden Age of King Jonathan IV and Alanna the Lioness, Tortall has been reduced to an economically challenged nation, where it was once one of the great nations in the known world. Young Richard I is forced to take the throne long before he is prepared, his war-mongering father having been assassinated during the short-lived Tortallan Civil War. Thrown into the fray is Lady Knight Shaylynn of Port Legann, the first female Champion since The Lioness.

But even as the newest generation of leaders work to return their country to its former, the realm and the neighboring nations are suspicious of the young king, awaiting his turn from claims of wishing for peace to a cry for war - never mind that Tortall can barely afford to feed its own people, let alone finance another war. The previous monarch bled the realm dry of men and money, and slavery has been established in a country that had been slave-free for centuries. The nobles dissent, the people cry for justice, and the king strives to juggle it all; the civil balance of the realm hangs by bare political threads.

The assassin that killed the Mad King remains loose in Tortall, half-heartedly search for by the Knight Commander of the King's Own and his counterpart in the Queen's Riders, while the Royal Spymaster pursues matters of different interest. In the years of the Mad King's wars, the Rogue has grown in power - many believe that they are too powerful. And amidst all the chaos, a rumor has sprouted, that there is a different power behind the spy networks of Tortall...

Never before has Tortall face problems of this magnitude, and the young people in charge must show their mettle or curse their homeland to poverty and a fast dive into political obscurity

Crossroads in Time (CiT) is a brand new After Legend Tortall RPG that centers around the capital city of Corus and the Royal Palace. We've just started, and have tons of open canons and positions that need filling, most of which come with their own plots already just waiting to be implemented. We're open to anyone who wishes to do medieval fantasy role playing or Tortallan role playing, and though we are an intermediate forum, role players of all levels are welcome.
