listen closely; i've got one hell of a story to tell. it's a story about life and love and folk that just won't die.
brack, nineteen forty six. just after the second world war, you'd think the most dangerous people would be the ones who came back from the trenches; but that's where you'd be wrong. 'cause all them who went are the honest type, the ones who'd live and die for some sort of heavenly cause. but not the ones who stayed behind. they're the selfish ones.
there's some rumours floating around, that the racketeers have unlocked the secret to living forever. and if you've got a big business and all of eternity to enjoy it, why bother going off to die in some filthy hole? nah, the real war's on the streets; with the gangs arguing over who gets to be the big boss for eternity, and the stragglers trying to keep up with living in the moment.
the smiles at the tables aren't the flimsy well-wishes of saints. 'cause while the honest world's off dying, it's the devils who run this city.
