--------------------- The bitter chill of a northern November and an odd desire for tea drove Naomi on her day off out of her apartment and into these crowded streets. As she exited the brick complex, Naomi started to push her small body in through the constant hustle and bustle of the city. In her short time of being up north she had learned that the city really did stay awake all night and all day and all of forever. It had taken her awhile to get used to living with constant light during the night and constant sirens, but Naomi was keeping her chin up and making out just fine for the most part.
She was happy walking, the wind blowing against her back, as she tightened her holey wool jacket to her body, her hair was up in a bun, messy, which is exactly how she liked it, along with her face fresh and free from any kind of makeup. Within a few, short minutes she arrived at a coffee shop, to which she entered with a sigh of relief. Her rosy cheeks lifted up in a jovial smile, as she walked towards the counter. "Hi, uh, may I have a.." She paused for a moment, looking up at the menu. "one medium cup of peppermint tea please?" the woman taking her order punched in the numbers and looked up expectantly. "That's three ninety-five." Her tone was short and to the point, and her eyes were rather bored.
Naomi dug in her pants pockets for the money, coming up with about two dollar bills and a dollar ninety-five's worth of change which she counted out and gave to the cashier, who in turn raised her eyebrows disapprovingly and counted out the change for herself.
Her tea came shortly and she started over the comfy chairs and coffee table. Giving a warm, sincere smile to a person already sitting one of the chairs. She sat down with a slight 'umf' and uncapped her tea and let the steam warm her rosy face. "Mmmhhhhhh."

Winter was coming, the cold was bitting him and he tried to get warm but he couldn't so he decided to take a hot chocolate and let it work. He opened the door and breath deep the smell of coffee and chocolate and smiled. It was warm and pleasent inside. Winter decorations were all over the place, the cheerful christmas atmosphere was starting to get into people and that was something he always liked, soon enough he could be ice-skating with his friends and watching the big christmas tree. He walked to the counter and waited until someone asked him for what he wanted. I'll like a... hot chocolate. He smiled to the girl behind the counter and went to sit and enjoy his drink.
The door opened again and he turned to look out of curiosity. A girl came in, she was pretty and looked nice. She asked for a peppermint tea qith a sweet accent and went to sit by him smiling sweetly, he smiled back and went back to his business removing his chocolate so it wouldn't burn his tongue. The only thing he didn't liked about christmas was that the town was full of people running to get all their presents in time or full of tourist, places were packed and there was no way of having a minute without listening to people talking on their phones, the traffic or things like that, he would be feeling annoyed but right now he found himself quite at easy there with his cup of chocolate and christmas surrounding him. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - tag;; Naomi // outfit;;jeans and a white t-shirt // words;;5 billion // notes;; here // template;; section.disparu @ caution2.0 // graphics;;made by?

--------------------- The steam hit her face with a pleasant, wet feel, it's warmth instantly relieving her cold, red nose. She looked up with her sweet green eyes, there was a man sitting near her. He was sipping daintily at his hot drink, so he wouldn't burn himself on the hot liquid inside. He had brown hair and nice, sincere blue eyes. Naomi blushed as she caught herself staring, he was undoubtably gorgeous, a chiseled face like that of carved marble and similar body, though that part she had to imagine. She blushed quickly looking away, darting her round eyes up and around the shop and outside views.
Everything was decked out in the holiday spirits of the complementary colors of green and red, gold and silvers splotched about here and there. Toys of all shapes and sizes, dresses and jewelry lined the store fronts with all sorts of special sales, not like Naomi could afford them, even if she wanted them. Usually when the giving season came around, Naomi put the extra effort into making something nice and useful for her grandma, like a nice, crocheted afghan blanket, which she was currently working on in her spare time at home.
She looked back down from her moments in thoughtful space, taking a sip of her tea for the first time, it was delicious. The cool mint soothed her throat and cleared her nose. She relaxed back into the chair crossing one leg over the other, drinking more the of the steaming tea, musing out loud.
"It's so crazy, that Thanksgivin' never seems to happen, like ya' hit Halloween and then it's Christmas, even though neither Thanksgivin' nor November is over."

Their marketing strategies were quite good, he had to give them that. The girl who had just arrived sat near him with her drink. He observed the people pass the window and the Christmas lights ready to get lightened by some celebrity. He liked Christmas, the people buying presents for their families, getting to see people you hadn't seen in years coming to spend time with you, people singing carols on the street, all the decorations and the smell of candy in the air and the kids playing with the snow and their new shiny toys. The girl talked to him out of the blue and he jumped of surprise. Oh... yes, you are right, maybe it's because Halloween and Christmas are bigger events than Thanksgiving. He hadn't thought about that, he had been pretty wrapped up on the Christmas rush too, it was as if the day hadn't enough hours to get everything ready.
People likes Christmas cause it's the best excuse to get together and give presents and they like Halloween cause it's an excuse to get dressed up and enjoy a good party. He specially liked Chritmas because he thought it was very sweet and during Christmas people tried to be better persons and make each other lives better instead of bad, people made wishes for the year to come and had their hopes up and they were happy. Don't you like it? During Christmas everything seems... happier. He sipped from his hot chocolate wondering why this foreing girl was on New York, it was clear she wasn't from there, maybe she was spending holidays there or maybe she had just come here to live. His family was coming over during that season to spend time with him which kept him busy getting presents and buying food for them all. They were a very homey family who loved to spend time together in times like these.

She nodded in agreement, it was true, the holiday was overshadowed by the other two, and you never really saw ornaments specifically for it, but rather for autumn.
"Don't you like it? During Christmas everything seems... happier."
Naomi nodded pleasantly, "well o' course I like it, in fact I love it, but I love Thanksgiving, and enjoyin' the time I get to spend with my family, it's one of the few times my brother come back to town" Naomi paused a moment, a slight sadness over taking her sweet, expressive face, her green eyes flickering down momentarily. "I won't be able to see my family this year. I can't afford to fly down and back up again if I want to go down fer Christmas."
The girl paused to take a sip of her drink, sighing afterwards. "I can't afford much anyways" it was true, her salary as a janitor was nice compared to what she used to make at the local fast food joint, it was enough to get by, she had a cheap apartment, and she'd been saving for to be able to go back to the south for the winter holiday. "but I get by, plus I make most of my gifts anyways, I like to think it means a bit more ya' know?" Naomi finished her small rant, pleased with her optimistic approach about being dirt poor. She was a gregarious person living in a place where nobody really wanted to talk, and she jumped on any opportunity to talk and share.
"So enough about me an' all, what 'bout yerself?"

The girl seemed to be eager to talk to because she answered him without looking at him as if he was crazy or something. Here in New York he had noticed people minded their own business, not touching, not talking, they will walk or run down the streets always too busy to stop and chat or to care about what was happening around them. Henry wasn’t like that, if he was stuck for too long waiting for the bus beside someone, he will talk, if he was waiting on queue to have his coffee or something, he will talk, he was just that way. So you are not from here? It seemed people who was outside their normal place tended to get together. I’m not from here either, I’m studying at New York University, I’m from England, nice place, I kind of miss it.
There in London everything was… green, and here everything was grey and black, and roads and noise and people running late everywhere. It took him a little to get used to it and sometimes he had to go to Central Park, close his eyes and imagine he was in the middle of some park back home. His family wasn’t rich, they were normal, sometimes they had problems, but they always found a way out them. He understood the girl; sometimes he hadn’t had the money to do something he wanted because he had to pay for his food or something from university or the furniture of his dorm. This time it was his family coming from the Christmas, she wasn’t feeling like going that year, he needed to catch up on his studies and exams were close. We can’t always do what we want right? But you will see them on Christmas anyway, so that should cheer you up.
