With all the people there it was going to be impossible to find someone unless she called them and knew where they were. Jenny was excited, Christmas lighting was the meaning of hot chocolate with cookies and all those amazing Christmas candies. She missed her brother and her father at that time of the year, now they were all so busy they didn’t see each other, with Dan at university and all that… well, they were all out of the picture. The only fear of Jenny about Dan was him getting together with Vanessa, and not because she didn’t like Vanessa but because that would be a blow to Serena, or maybe not but well, who knows? After all Dan and Vanessa had more story together and Serena… but Jenny had her own problems to mind, one of them being her own relationship, she sighed… maybe tonight… [/ul]

Christmas was approaching faster every time Felix thought about it. This year would be a very different year in terms of celebrating Christmas however. It was his first year away from home, his first year of 'manhood'. Of course, Felix loved his freedom but sometimes he missed home. Each Christmas his parents would bake cookies, have hot chocolate, and celebrate as a family. However Felix wouldn't visit them this year for various reasons.
Today the Christmas lights were going to be lit, and Felix at least wanted to see them. It was the only thing that would lighten him up from his slightly gloomy mood. Not only was he homesick when he saw families in bunches pass by, but he was also tired. His memories of flashbacks appeared in his mind the previous night so he barely got any sleep.
Felix stepped outside from his apartment leaving his keys under the 'welcome mat' for his roommate. He hated doing it, and felt like his roommate should invest in buying a pair of keys but he was too cheap. Snow fell lightly on Felix's head and he smiled a little. Part of him wanted to have a snowball fight with the other kids but the other part protested against it since he was eighteen.
He walked to the Rockerfeller Center in the bitter cold slightly regretting not taking a taxi. He wasn't exactly tight with money, it was just he didn't have enough at the time. Finally he reached the Center and saw people getting ready to light the lights. However something caught his eye. A girl, around his age it seemed, stepped out of a taxi that had just arrived. She was beautiful, and Felix couldn't help but check her out. He wondered if she noticed him looking at her, so he quickly looked back at the lights blushing slightly.

Felix let out a long sigh as he watched the lights being lit. It was all fascinating to him: mainly because they weren't all lit at once. There were sections of lights being lit at different times. To him, it seemed like watching a show. It was his first year in the "Big Apple" and first time seeing the 'light show'. He was surprised at the large amounts of people who showed up just to see the lights being lit. He imagined that his friends back at home would make fun of him for watching Christmas lights being lit as if it were entertainment. However Felix wouldn't have minded if they did tease him, because he felt it was the coolest thing to watch. It also helped him get into the 'Christmas spirit' that he was lacking. Normally he was always in the Christmas spirit but this year he wasn't simply because he was becoming homesick. Felix missed his parents and family.
Felix glanced over at the girl again and noticed she had made a face at her phone. He figured she was texting her boyfriend, because it seemed all girls as pretty as her had a boyfriend. He sighed again and let out another sigh as the cold wind pressed against his face along with his hair. Felix shook his hair away from his eyes to see that the girl had noticed him looking at her. His cheeks flushed again and he smiled a little. He hoped that she wouldn't think he was a pervert or a stalker. He then put his hands in his pockets walking a bit closer to the crowd watching the other lights being lit. It was beautiful, and he had never seen anything like it. A voice then appeared belonging to a girl, next to him. Felix turned around to see the beautiful girl he was checking out earlier talking to him! "Yes it is very nice. It's my first time here." he added smiling warmly at her. Was this really happening? "My name's Felix by the way. Felix Woods." he said offering his hand to her.

She shook her head and sipped from her coffee absentminded with her eyes set on the lights as they started to light and people started to shout and clap and some of them even jump on excitement. Maybe it was the fact that they were announcing Christmas was soon here, though if the snow, the cold, the shop windows and all the decorations weren’t enough sight for them. Jenny surprised herself, since when she had gotten so bitter about Christmas? Not so long ago she had been here with the rest of them joining the crow and doing shopping herself!! She was losing her Christmas spirit thanks to the lack of family company around and all the problems she had lately. [/ul]

Felix looked at his watch and noticed time was passing by very quickly. He had left his house around five, and now it was almost seven. Of course he didn't really care since he didn't have any plans. His roommate however was another story. Usually on nights like this, he'd get drunk and have a rampage through the apartment room. Felix just hoped on Christmas, he'd be a little bit better about not getting drunk. Felix himself never really got into drinking, since he didn't really fancy alcohol. He drank in moderation. It felt as if the temperature dropped a few degrees and Felix shriveled up. He looked at the girl and noticed she was also cold but smiled at her comment. "Yeah, it's really fun to watch. So far I mean." he claimed winking at her.
Apparently her name was Jenny Humphrey. It didn't sound familiar to him, but he loved meeting new people. "Nice to meet you Jenny. That's a great name." he added with a grin. "But yes, so far New York is amazing to me. It's like a place that you can just.... be yourself. You know what I mean? I know it's stupid, and I'm stupid, but to me that's how this city feels." he said blushing a little. He wondered how long she had lived in New York though. He figured probably her entire life, since she appeared to know the area well. Felix had only lived in New York for a month, and still got lost easily. He was starting to get the hang of finding his way through the city, but he still had trouble catching taxis. Most of his life he never really rode in a taxi, but in New York he was finding himself in a taxi everyday.

She didn’t understand what she was doing there still when her brother wasn’t coming, and no, he wasn’t going to appear out of the blue to surprise her, that wasn’t Dan’s style. Maybe it was that she missed old good times, or that she wanted to get back a little of her childhood. She knew she wouldn’t but she had nothing to lose trying. Jenny almost jumped when she noticed the guy didn’t recognized her, that meant she had someone to start new, without any prejudice against her, finally someone who wasn’t going to judged her for her past acts. ”Nice to meet you too, Felix.” By the way he was talking about New York Jenny knew he was just so new there. Being yourself is something you couldn’t be in there, not in the circle she was moving. Of course people there was at his things, his attention to their own problems and no one else but that didn’t happened in her circle, she didn’t regret being there but sometimes she wished she could just be a normal naïve girl again. ”I’ve been here all my life, you will get used to the city soon, and you will see it’s like every other city.” and sometimes ten times worst, though if he came from a small town then this was a big change and much better, in a small town you have no secrets, in New York at least not everyone knew about your secrets, except for those who ready Gossip Girl and dedicated themselves to watch other falls, then if you got the spotlight you were ruined. [/ul]

Felix sniffed the cool breeze that passed by his face and sighed. He wished his family were here, to see the great lights being lit and just to enjoy the atmosphere. It wasn't like you could see an event this big any day. There was something about it that made it special, and you couldn't spend the time there alone. Felix watched couples pass by in their satisfied states and big happy families gathering around. He wished that he had someone to be with: a family member or a girl. He then looked at the girl named Jennifer and smiled. Of course, he wished that she were his but he figured she didn't have much of an interest in him at all. Plus he saw her read a text message and he assumed it was from her boyfriend. She was probably expecting him to come, and if he did Felix would be left out.
Judging from her tone of voice however, she wasn't too interested in the light show. Since she was from New York, she probably went to it every year. After a certain amount of years it must be tiring to watch. "Hmm.. aren't you enthusiastic." he claimed smiling and winking at her. Obviously he was just teasing her tone. Jennifer seemed a little taken aback though when he said 'nice to meet you'. "You seem a little taken back, may I ask why?" he asked still smiling. It seemed as if she was famous or something, as if expecting him to know who she was. "But yeah I agree that statement could go with any city. New York seems very unique though, I guess that's just because I've never been here." he claimed. He then shifted himself a little closer to her and grinned.

Are you expecting someone?” It would be the normal thing, that he was there expecting from someone to make him company in such an occasion and not talking to some random bystander on the street. ”New York is great, got things not other cities have but for me, at least for me, it’s just like every other city.” Well it seemed she got the company she had been looking for, just he wasn’t the one she had been expecting, not that she was complaining either. ”I’ll show you around if you want, after all I’ve been here all my life, I know the city quite well by now.” And nothing better to do, her brother won’t end anytime soon and she got no one to call just now. He seemed nice and a bit lost, she was eager for company, and wasn’t her wishing for something like this to happen? So she got her wish, not she just have to take the chance and… forget she was alone at Christmas for a while. Not that something was actually going to happen, that wasn’t her plan but hey, she could have a good time just chatting and showing the city to the guy. [/ul]
