All publicity is good publicity.
Those were the words that had been drilled into her by her agent since day one. Hence shipping her off to weird and wonderful shoots that the average young model might have been intimidated by. Or just played scared by. Though, she was thankful that today her agent was more inclinded to just advise her to go out, get out in the city and meet folk. Which was actually a good thing for Anna that day as there happened to be a number of book signings and music debuts going on; from which she could gladly take her pick.
Since the young woman had long since harboured a passion for writing, she decided a stroll to Borders for their latest writing celebrity appearance was probably her best bet. Or, at least, something she could learn from while she was there. Make it where you wanna go with your modeling sweetheart, and I'm sure publishers will sit up and listen to your writing. Or, at least your parents will finally not care less and let you get on with it. It was almost like her agent was her mother, or the mother she would have wanted when her own seemed to forget her daughter wasn't a mini-her but in actual fact her own person with dreams and a passion to live her life as she saw fit.
Meandering through the crowds that had already gathered, she noted the sign laced with the author's name. With a frown, she slowly opened her bag to check the title of the well thumbed book that nestled there to keep her amused on long trips to shoots. Almost with embaraassed speed, she snapped the bag shut again and zipped it tightly closed - feeling a little bit starstruck as she realised her luck. Stepping into the steadily shortening line that would soon be closed for the day, she spent her time there chatting happily with other fans - some more so of the author rather than his work, but each to their own. A couple had seen her own campaigns a mere few stores down the street - hard to forget that smiling face when it was party of a 20ft banner campaign for special occassion wear. The faint pink tinge of that had not yet had time to dissapate fully from her complexion when she finally drew up, a gentle smile on her lips. As she handed over the book, her manner almost suggested that she didn't want to inconvinience him by doing so - even though signings was exactly why he was there that day. "Another bestseller I'm sure." she commented softly, almost shyly, her gaze turned to the point for a second to illustrate her words "You're quite the writer-" understatement of the year Anna "-Your work has proved quite the inspiration."
No, she wasn't sucking up to the star, Anna was merely being honest since she so rarely encountered those whose work she liked.

ANOTHER DAY IN THIS LIVELY MADNESS OF S H O W I N G Y O U C A R E Alex had wake up that morning with Adaire calling him for his meeting at Borders to sign books. It still took time for him to absorb that he had reached the dream of his life and that he wasn’t waking up on the street with nothing to eat or wear or a roof over his head. Adaire had took him out of that to the rich and famous life he was enjoying now reporting both of them massive benefits and increasing popularity. Of course, he wrote, but all that publicity, and the hard work, was done by her, and she was still doing it. So he was choosing what to wear to this meeting trying to get it right to his ‘sexiest man of the year’ new title and ‘the best dressed one’ too. He went for a pair of jeans and a white shirt because that always worked, a suit would be too formal for that kind of meeting, and dressing casual seemed like the best choice. He took breakfast at home, a coffee and some cereals and then made some calls, tried to get everything ready for the day, listening to Adaire with her agenda and then went for the sign.
He didn’t like he had to sit for hours signing books because it made his hand hurt, he loved the comments though and they way he can always catch the eye of some pretty girl who was willing to take a picture with the ‘man of the year’. Being honest to himself he knew most of his popularity and the books he sold was thanks to his looks, being handsome sure helped him to get on the top and he got fans from all the ages, but the most difficult ones, the young ones, were easier to get for him. He wasn’t Shakespeare, and he didn’t want to be compared with that, his books were mostly normal kind of books; he just could put it off just fine and that was the way he got where he was, putting it off or at least that was what he thought, apparently everyone thought different and big publishers were fighting over his books all the time, and girls screamed his names dozens of times, and so on.
Alex got out of the car in front of Borders where people were waiting for him with cameras and posters with his name, it was all so surreal. He smiled, posed for the cameras for a while and got inside. He talked and joked with the managers of the event and so, until it was time to get out and sit on a chair for hours receiving compliments about his book and how awesome and handsome and hot he was. If someday he needed a rush of self-love or something he just had to get there and he will get it. People came right one after another, one after another, saying the same things, how much they loved his book, how much they loved his style, how they all voted for him… He didn’t know he could be this much complimented or smile this much on a day but it seemed it could, he was still so new at this it took him a lot of effort. He shared laughs with them, and winks with some pretty girls and then, she came. Her face was familiar, he had seen her somewhere, not easy for him to forget such a pretty face, and when she put her book in front of him with that smile he placed her.
Hey there. He said, giving her that sweet and sexy smile he knew girls couldn’t resist. He couldn’t help it, he loved girls, he absolutely loved them and she was incredible. He had caught himself sometimes staring at her posters at the streets where she was modeling for some clothe brand. He had been moving on the world for not too long and he still didn’t get to know everyone on there, it seemed it was about to change. She did like the rest of them all did, compliment his work and smile. Coming from her, it was different though, she was moving in his same world, she should be able to know who really was good, and who wasn’t. Well that’s quite amazing coming from someone like you. You thought I wouldn’t recognize you? He winked at her, he was taking more time that he should, and he knew it, but he didn’t think making them wait a little bit more was going to give him problems. Thank you very much, I’m glad you liked it that much. He stamped his signature on the book, like the millions time before her, but added something on it, she had gone all the way there to get her book, the least he could do was telling her that he loved his work pretty much, and that was what he wrote down, for her to keep doing her amazing job. People were getting impatient and he was forced to let her go. Make me a favor? Go over there. he pointed to the main manager of the event. And tell them I told you to wait for me? I don’t think this will take much longer. Usually someone who liked to set herself apart, she wasn't too fussed about fitting snugly into the general group of women there that day. When she generally had a few kind words for everyone, why should today be any different just because she shared the view of the masses?
Her head tilted quizzically, almost out of habit at his comment, bringing a sharp tinge of colour momentarily to her cheeks "Honestly, yes. Not really at the 'recognisable' stage yet." she shrugged ever so slightly, a smile upon her lips as she delivered the modest comment. To the general public, the ones who did their own shopping and actually walked the streets of the city, she probably was a familiar face. But to those who were top of their leagues? No way.
Sliding the hardback into her bag carefully, she glanced down only momentarily to make sure she wasn't accidently crushing something important before returning her gaze to him as he spoke. It was difficult to hide the faint hint of confusion and surprise that drifted briefly across her expression at his request. After a moment or two, she spoke slowly before she stepped away to allow the queue to move "Alright. Um, thanks, by the way." she tapped her bag with a smile as she moved away, having noticed his words inside the sleeve before she'd put it safely away.
Meandering over to the individual in question Anna managed to strike up a conversation, ever the social girl. She'd set down her bag, hat lying discarded atop it and was chuckling away quite happily with her new companion while Alex continued working his way through the line, deciding to switch off the ocd analytical part of her brain which would probably have been working overtime trying to decipher why she was still here and not well on her way to returning home to the apartment.
Running a hand absent mindedly through the loose curls of her hair, she listened intently as the manager recounted some of their crazier signings, some of the odd fans they'd had for various people pass through their store. Over her shoulder, she could hear the faint shuffle which signalled closing time but was more engrossed in the tale of a harry potter fan who'd gone the whole hog in their dobby costume; which prompted the pair into a fit of laughter.
Recovering herself, she turned as the manager bid their goodbye and appeared to be retiring after a very tiring day. Poor dear. Retrieving her notebook from her bag, she jotted down a few things, adding to an expansive mindmap before throwing it back into the depths of her bag as she spoke "It's a wonder you don't have carpal tunnel after all these signings." Anna commented to him with a hint of chuckle to her voice, apparently a little more relaxed than she had been when she'd arrived.
Now, by no means was Anna blind, she could appreciate Alex's good looks and the reason he'd scooped a 'sexist man' title. Add to that the fact that the books she read always played a part in her own writing, his own being ones which prompted little bubbles of ideas in her brain when she was hardly thinking. She couldn't say in all honesty that she wasn't flattered and curious as to why he'd asked her to wait.

ANOTHER DAY IN THIS LIVELY MADNESS OF S H O W I N G Y O U C A R ESigning was something Alex Reed was forced to do. He didn’t hate it but he always got tired after the first row of people. Then meeting people like Anna made all his time there worth it, it wasn’t that normal that someone as famous as her went to those kind of ‘fan events’ and he was happy to find out someone of his inner circle was there. She joked with him about not being that recognizable yet but he had heard about her, maybe she wasn’t that aware of some important people talking about a brilliant future for her and he wasn’t going to be the one crashing the surprise when some of the ‘big weights’ in the model industry came to her to offer the career of her life. You think so? Well then maybe you are right but I did hear of you. He winked at her and smiled when all surprised she moved from the queue to wait for him where he had requested her to go. He was sure the manager won’t be surprised because he was that ladies man, it wasn’t the first time he had met someone he liked and made her wait, of course this time was different and he could think she was just a friend. Press will make sure that the pictures of her in the signing and the fact that she was waiting there for him and they will leave the building together would be on the newspaper and magazines the following day and over the internet in matter of minutes.
He proceeded to sign the books of the fans making enthusiastic comments about it and asking him questions about the book and the following ones. He smiled, signed and answered most of the questions and took pictures with them, it was his job after all and even though he didn’t like much all that attention he should get used to it. He was happy to check from time to time and see that Anna was still there, laughing with the manager and waiting patiently. He felt a bit guilty about making her wait for him while he had to be sitting on the chair during an indefinite period of time. When the closing time came he was more than happy to leave all the crazy people behind. He greeted everyone, apologized for not having more time signing books and then walked over the manager and the girl. Anna looked more relaxed than when she had been waiting on queue and he liked that, she joked about his poor hand which was right now asking for a big break. I wonder that too, my hand right now is screaming for a break. He had used seven pens today, seven was a big number, he wouldn’t be surprised if he had signed thousand or more of books. It wasn’t that often that he signed books and when he did all New York went to those events.
I don’t this often, I don’t like to be sit and sign during all that time, I’m sorry I have you waiting this long. He checked his clock, in time to get something to eat and have a walk around the streets of Manhattan and maybe even staying together for dinner and some drinks afterwards. I bet you are hungry. Let’s get something to eat, I hope flashes won’t make you feel uncomfortable. He commented while watching at the paparazzi waiting for him to get into his car and eager to get a picture of them both leaving the book shop together. They want to get us together, this is one of the downs of being famous, but I go used to it by now. He walked toward the door and opened it for her, his bodyguard ready to protect them to get in the car safe and quick while the flashes surrounded them the second he opened the door, he smiled and greeted them and tried to protect Anna from the pictures but the most he tried to hide the most they will want to know who she was and that won’t make any good for her. Sorry for all this, I will make things a little bit complicated for you from now on. They will all wonder who you are and how long we will be together. It happened before, all the girls he had been with had been harassed by them, he could only hope she wouldn’t mind.
